Wrapped up foods
In country kitchens all over the globe clever cooks use whatever ingredients they have at hand to prepare filled pastries and pastas that will fill hungry bellies with their tasty flavours.
In Argentina there will be crispy empanada pies, while in India, simple staples like potatoes and peas are transformed into moreish fried samosas. The Chinese have steamed and fried dumplings, and in Italy it’s ravioli that rule in the wrapper stakes. Mexico brings us all things taco, while in Vietnam rice paper is used to wrap up the lightest, freshest salad rolls. And let’s not forget good old English sausage rolls.
Empanadas, samosas and sausage rolls, are surprisingly easy to put together. These wrapped up foods have the added advantage of not requiring any cutlery to eat, making them the perfect choice for picnics and packed lunches.
